Zachary Marquis McFarlin was born on November 8, 1993 in Houston, Texas to Monica Yvonne McFarlin and Richard Allen Simmons. Zach passed from this life to eternal life on Sunday, August 22, 2021. Zach attended Garden Villas Elementary School, Saint Peter The Apostle Catholic School, and Mount Carmel Academy High School. Zach graduated as an Academic Scholar among his peers. His favorite sport was playing Basketball and favorite subject was Mathematics. Additionally, Zach attended Houston Community College Systems where he studied in the biomedical anesthesiology program. As an adult, in his spare time, he was devoted to video game challenges and noted as a champion. Zach was baptized at a very young age and he participated in many children’s events and programs. He loved attending Vacation Bible School. He was taught about God and the Bible at Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Reverend Earnest L. Burnside. Zach acquired additional Christian Education at Saint Peter Catholic Church School. Zach experienced training and a strong home schooling by his mother, Monica McFarlin and grandmother, Barbara McFarlin. He later joined Greater St. Matthews Church with his parents under the leadership of the late Pastor Emeritus Dr. Gusta Booker, Sr. and Senior Pastor Ronald E. Booker, Sr.
Zach was a Modeled Citizen and Christian in his community. Zach was loved and respected by many individuals that he came in contact with, no matter what their status in life. Zach was well-mannered, high-spirited, and a caring person in our present day turmoil. Additionally, he was smooth and cool in his approach and polished demeanor. Throughout his health battles, Zach was committed to 30 day prayer challenges and TV ministries. He was motivated to excel towards excellence through therapy and many online motivational videos. Zach was well liked by his friends and coworkers. He was employed by an Employment Service and Park Plaza Hospital in the Medical Center of Houston, Texas. He attended online courses and received a certificate in Whole Sales for Real Estate. During the Pandemic, he successfully started real estate employment.
Zachary Marquis McFarlin was preceded in death by his loving Grandparents Frank John & Barbara Ann Jones McFarlin, Sr.; Uncle Frankie McFarlin; Aunt Valerie McFarlin; Mother, Monica Yvonne McFarlin Willie; and Uncle Shelby Phillips. He is survived by his Father Richard Allen Simmons; Step-Sister Kandy Simmons-Chatman; Step-Father Joseph Willie; God-Father Reginald (Tammy) Benson; and God-Mother Lisa (Jason) Harris. He leaves to cherish memories: Aunt Deborah (Reginald) Davis, Sr.; Aunt Doris (Clarence) Pierre, Sr.; and Uncle Kenneth McFarlin. Zach will be truly missed by his closest Cousins: Janessa Howard; Franchell McFarlin (Kaelynn, Chauncie, and Channon); Brandon McFarlin (Blake); Monique McFarlin (Xiomora and Xander); Clarence Pierre Jr.; Reana Davis; Devon Pierre; Dillion Pierre; and Reginald Davis, Jr. He had some very special Friends: Corey Ballard; Alex West; Albernisha Evans; Kenneth Richardson; Jacob (Cynthia Maldonado) Figueroa; Donald Lewis; and Bria Hopkins. Conclusively, Zach leaves to mourn his God-Children: Devon and Dillion Pierre; R. J. Davis; and Laurenzo Figueroa. Significantly, a host of family: great aunts; great uncles; cousins; classmates; co-workers; and friends.
