On the afternoon of February 25, 2024, the called upon Talbert T. Jolivette, Sr. and welcomed him home. Born on December 25, 1947, in Four Corners, Louisiana, to the late Able and Leola (Lockett) Jolivette, Sr., Talbert's life was a testament to faith and service.
Talbert embraced his Christian faith early in life, becoming a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Four Corners under the guidance of Father Jerome. He received his education at St. Peter Catholic School before continuing his studies at Willow Street School. His commitment to service led him to join the United States Army on August 15, 1968, where he bravely served two tours in Vietnam.
After his military service, Talbert dedicated himself to various professions, including working alongside his brother Theoplis Jolivette at Red Top Inc. in Wichita, Kansas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma. He later became an employee of the city of Houston before working with his brother Rev. Louis Jolivette in their fencing business.
Talbert was reunited in heaven with his parents, Able and Leola (Lockett) Jolivette, Sr., as well as four brothers; Norman Jolivette, Theoplis (T.J.) Jolivette, Nolton Jolivette, Sr. & Morman Jolivette, Sr. (Twins), Rev. Louis Jolivette, Sr., Rev. Charles Ray Jolivette, two sisters; Emily Jolivette and Gladys Lockett, and his grandson Chansey Jolivette who preceded him in death. He is lovingly remembered by his surviving siblings: Rev. Able Jolivette Jr. (Linda) of Houston, Texas; Rev. Clarence Jolivette of Pine Bluff, Arkansas; and Sis. Rose Jolivette McClarty of Jeanerette, Louisiana.
His memory lives on through his daughter Yamica Jolivette, son Talbert Jolivette Jr., grandchildren Quinton Jones, Breanna Jolivette, Lawrence Carr, Tyrone Jolivette, Alycia Jolivette; and a host of other cherished great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
In the words of comfort: "We realize that Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal." Talbert T. Jolivette, Sr. will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his dedication to family and community. May he rest in eternal peace.
